A filter sits inside the spout and catches scale and loose particles before they reach the cup, which matters most for tea, pour-over coffee and instant meals where sediment is obvious. Two capacities are available, 33.8 oz (1 L) for one or two people and 50.7 oz (1.5 L) for a household or an office, and both come in a gold or a silver finish. The ergonomic handle stays clear of the rising steam.
Fill above the minimum and below the maximum, and never heat it empty. Let it cool before rinsing, as cold water on hot steel can distort the base over time. Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth and descale the filter periodically if you live in a hard water area. The handle and body become hot in use, so keep the kettle towards the back of the hob and out of reach of children while it is heating.
